Very exciting news this week in Cardiff High School. The Governing Bodies of Willows High School and Cardiff High School met last week to investigate the possibility of working much more closely together by forming a Federation.
A Federation is when two schools work together under a single Governing Body but retain the separate identities of each school. This means that Cardiff High School would retain its admission procedures, its uniform, its curriculum and the accountability for its own results. However, a Federation would allow for the sharing of best practice, new ideas and a pooling of resources.
As a school that prides it-self on being, one of if not the best performing school in Wales, we will work extremely hard to explore the benefits of such an arrangement. It is, however, exciting to consider the opportunity to work with another school in the city that is making rapid improvement. We will of course keep everybody involved up to date with news of this proposal.
In Sporting News last week the Year 8 and Year 11 Basketball teams competed in the Cardiff and Vale Finals. Both became champions! Very well done!
On the football front CHS Year 11 Boys played against Llanishen in the Cardiff and Vale cup last week. Unfortunately CHS lost 5 – 4 on penalties Cardiff High has gone to penalties on five occasions in recent times and has lost four times! On the upside, three of our players were Year 10, so the future for football at CHS looks bright! It will be great when our new ATP is ready for use.
