Tua'r Goleuni – Towards the Light

Welcome back everyone!  The Autumn Term has arrived and it is wonderful to be back in school with pupils and staff.  It has been a fantastic start to the term with two very productive INSET days and students returning in great spirits on Wednesday.

Of course the big news item from the summer, was the A Level and GCSE results.  It is with great pride that I can report that our A Level results were once again outstanding.  In Year 13 it was the greatest number of exam entries we have ever had, reflecting our open Sixth Form policy and it is wonderful to see pupils of all abilities achieving so highly.  Many, many pupils will now be starting university with four attending Oxford or Cambridge.

At GCSE level, it was an amazing year as the school achieved record results in all indicators, a new high for Wales as 87% of all Year 11 achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, 96% A*-C and 100% of pupils left with 5A*-G grades.  Year 11 pupils worked so hard and it was wonderful to see the celebrations on results day.  It is also testament to the dedication of staff at Cardiff High School and reflects our commitment to constantly improving our practice.
