Welcome back everyone to the new academic year.  It has been a fantastic beginning to the new term.  It has been lovely meeting lots of new faces in Year 7 and Year 12.  The school now boasts 1650 pupils, by far and away the highest number of pupils the school has ever had!

I said at the end of the summer term that it had been a fantastic year and it was wonderful on those distant August days to see all the hard work and effort rewarded with record breaking GCSE and A Level results.  At GCSE, 89% of all pupils achieved 5 A*-C including English and Maths, a new Welsh record high.  At A Level, 65% of all entries achieved A*-B and at AS, students surpassed all expectation setting new school records in performance.

Cardiff High School continues to raise the bar of expectation for school performance in Wales.  That of course brings its own pressure, as we look to see where we can improve on in the coming year. However, we have increased the size of our Pastoral team, recruited new and existing staff and improved the teaching and learning environment so we are on the right path.

I look forward to once again working with all those associated with the school in delivering outstanding results and learning experiences for our pupils in the coming year.
