Welcome back everyone. I hope you had an enjoyable Easter break.
It is very exciting that 25 staff from Cardiff High School on the weekend of Saturday 6 May 2017 will attempt to scale the 3 tallest peaks in Wales within a 24 hour period, starting at Snowdon before moving onto Cadair Idris and finally finishing at Pen-Y-Fan. This is a very physical challenge which includes 21 miles of walking, 300 miles of driving and 3 ascents totalling 2900 metres. They are undertaking this endeavour firstly to raise money for the MacMillan Cancer charity in memory of our colleague John Marusza and secondly to support the school in delivering the Duke of Edinburgh award.
As I am sure many of you are aware, the Duke of Edinburgh Award was previously provided by local community centres but unfortunately in recent times this, together with the funding, has ceased. The staff have very kindly volunteered to deliver the programme from school but we are starting from scratch, having to pay for all staff training, equipment and resources.
We have a fundraising page Welsh 3 Peaks in order for you to support the staff in their endeavour, should you so wish.
Look out for a Non Uniform Day in the future to support this event.
