Weather update

12 July 2018

Dear Parent/Carer

UNIFORM UPDATE

As we head to our last few days of school, we continue to monitor the weather conditions and more importantly, the internal temperature of the school.

As you are aware, once we felt conditions in school were becoming uncomfortable, we made the decision to allow every pupil/family to have the option of wearing cool, appropriate clothing to school.  In considering next week, we note that there are conflicting weather reports, albeit with the expectation of high temperatures, especially over the weekend.  Due to the fabric of our building, it takes time for the inside temperature to cool to what we would consider reasonable for learning and teaching. We also recognise that next week, many of our pupils will be attending school in non-uniform due to inter form physical activities that are taking place from Monday to Thursday. Traditionally, we have a non-uniform day on the last day of the summer term to fundraise for one of our chosen charities, if pupils wish to donate, and this year we are raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support. Should your child wish to contribute, donations will be collected on Friday morning.

In light of all of these factors and having talked to pupils, we have made the decision therefore to continue to provide pupils with the option of wearing cool, appropriate clothing to school or their school uniform until the end of term.

Yours faithfully
