School Improvement Planning

At Cardiff High School, our aim is to realise our vision of becoming a true learning organisation, constantly reflecting and learning to ensure that continuous school improvement remains at the heart of our culture.

Our strategic improvement priorities focus on strengthening the quality of teaching and learning so that every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to achieve their full potential. We are ambitious in our outlook and strive to stretch each pupil to make strong progress in learning – we refer to this as "ambition for all".

The school has a well-planned, broad and balanced, and cohesive and progressive curriculum. The school continues to review and refine all aspects of curriculum provision to make it more engaging, inclusive, and relevant to ensure we equip students with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to thrive and shape the world we live in. We seek to supplement and extend curriculum provision by expanding opportunities across each area of learning experience to offer richer learning experiences.

A strong emphasis on wellbeing, safeguarding, and positive behaviour underpins all aspects of school life, supported by close partnerships with families and our community. The school continues to develop strategies to improve wellbeing and inclusion, removing barriers to learning, to ensure all pupils, irrespective of their background, have opportunities to prosper.

These priorities align closely with the Welsh Government’s national education improvement agenda, including high quality teaching, an ambitious and inclusive curriculum, learner wellbeing, and strong leadership. The school is proud of our Welsh culture and language and we seek to acknowledge and celebrate our identity as a school in Wales, as well as supporting and promoting the Welsh language.

Finally, we seek to maximise the use of school funds, through prudent and careful financial planning and management, to continue to invest in staff development and the physical learning environments to ensure our school continues to grow as a vibrant, ambitious, and nurturing place for all learners.
